Getting started with NewsStreams

Zignals NewsStreams combines the best of a Twitter and RSS Feed reader. You can track, in real-time, the latest opinions of market commentators and trading tips side-by-side with the latest news from reputable news agencies. The application offers three key areas:

  1. Twitter Reader - Search Twitter for the latest opinion on a single stock, group of stocks or company name (or other text entry).
  2. RSS Reader – Add news feeds from news agencies or individual bloggers.
  3. News Display – Each column represents an individual News or Twitter feed.
  4. Twitter Posting - Add your own Tweets, insert a chart or add a link.

Twitter - Search for a stock

Drop down the Twitter menu. Type your stock in the stock picker; configure your settings if needed (click the funnel icon and ensure a check box is displayed next to the markets you wish to view). After you have typed in the symbol click [Go] to load up the Tweet channel.

Use the navigation icons along the top of the display to select your newly added channel; alternative use the arrows on either side of the mini-icon display to switch between channels.

Create a Stock List

To create a list click [Edit Stock List] and from the pop-up menu click [New]. Give your stocklist a name and [Save]. The Select Stock List will display your new stock list which is empty of stocks. Enter multiple stock tickers or stock names into the input box and click save when you're done.

Select your newly created list form the stock list in the Twitter down menu and click 'GO' and tweets featuring any of the stocks in your stocklist will appear inside the channel.

TIP: You can remove a stock from the list by clicking the blue Dash to the right of the name.

Twitter - Search For Companies or People

Use the text search box to search Tweets on individual companies or people.

RSS - Subscribing to Your Favourite News Source Feed

You can add RSS from the list of suggested sources, or you can add a feed of your choice. You can add as many RSS feeds as you like and each feed will appear as a new channel. Use the icons and directional arrow navigation along the top to switch between channels.

In the RSS dropdown select 'Add new feed'. Cut-and-paste the RSS source into the RSS address bar and give your Feed a name. Save when done.

Organising Your Information Channels

Different channels can be navigated by the icon bar along the top (1) or by clicking on a channel (2) and dragging the channel window to a new location inside the news portal.

If you have a large number of channels the navigation arrows next to the icons will scroll between the different channels.
